Dear All,

A new year has started and brought some new, not so welcome, visitors to the Cayman Islands. No, I am not talking about the thousands of cruise ship passengers that seem to invade George Town every morning. On Friday 16th January, an unwelcome guest was found by divers on Devil's Grotto of Eden Rock: a Lion Fish!

The Department of Environment was called and the culprit was duly captured.

(Thanks to Chris Burrowswood for the picture taken of the culprit in captivity.)

As impressive a sight as they are, this is not a good sight. Lion fish can easily upset the local balance as they are ferocious predators.

So keep a look out for them and notify DoE if you see one. (and take a picture)

Happy diving

Jack
